INVITATION TO JOURNEY INTO A HEATED MAZE!


The desert is a great place to confront your deepest thoughts and emotions and to try and make sense of the struggles of life. It is a quiet solitary place where relentless heat bears down on your memories and yearnings to make something of it all. It is a place of great paradox. Bright sun and dark shadows. There is serious danger as well as immense beauty all around. This is a place, real and imaginary, where you can sweat the devil out. It is a land you can go into and possibly never leave.
In the blog posts to come I invite you to journey with me into this landscape of sparse water and dynamic changes.
I welcome you as a fellow traveler confronting our deepest thoughts and emotions. 
Let us make a pack to head far out into this heated maze and seek the revelations that only the desert's intense heat and solitude can afford.

    I tend to think of desert and dessert in the same sense.

TAMING OF THE TONGUE!

  Listening to the Presidential debate the other night I was reminded of comments made by James in the Bible about speaking and communicating.  What I love about James is how he is so straight forward and does not mince words. He clearly states, "But no man can tame the tongue. It an unruly evil, full of deadly poison." James 2:8(NKJV). It seems to me that the spewing of poison has become almost a national norm. What seems to be a "new normal" is just to rant and rave and say whatever comes to mind with absolutely NO FILTER as to the value or truth of what is being said. When I was growing up I heard things like "watch your mouth" and "think before you speak." Not to think before speaking was tagged mouthing off. Today the attitude is to let go with whatever is on your mind without any thought to its consequences.
